NCDA

David ThomasEven as far back as 1915, car dealers in Dallas believed there was a need to meet to share ideas and concerns about the automotive industry. But it wasn’t until 1923 that these dealers became an "official" trade association when they incorporated to become the Dallas Automotive Trade Association. In the late '40s, there was a name change to the Authorized New Car Dealers of Dallas, Inc., with another update in the mid '60s to the Authorized New Car Dealers of Dallas County, Inc. In 1980, the Association expanded to encompass all adjacent counties, except for Tarrant, and became the New Car Dealers Association of Metropolitan Dallas (NCDA). The NCDA is a trade association that represents the franchised new car dealers in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties. The NCDA is comprised of more than 100 dealers, who employ more than 15,000 individuals, and approximately 50 associate members. The Association services its membership through lobbying efforts, written communications and an employment bank. The NCDA also manages the annual Dallas Auto Show and is actively involved in a variety of community-oriented projects. Last year, local franchised dealers sold 367,381 new vehicles, proof that Dallas, Texans, love their new cars and trucks.
