Who is the NCDA?

The New Car Dealers Association of Metropolitan Dallas (NCDA) is a trade association that represents the franchised new car dealers in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis and Rockwall counties. There are more than 100 dealer members and 50 associate members of the NCDA.

Associate Membership

Any person or company having mutual interests and relationships with the Dallas area franchised new car dealers may complete an application for associate membership. Once a new member is approved by the NCDA Board of Directors, the company will receive an NCDA Directory that lists all NCDA members. Associate members are invited to help sponsor the annual NCDA Golf Classic and Holiday Luncheon. Associate members also receive monthly NCDA newsletters and the Dallas Auto Show newsletter three times a year. Associate membership must be renewed each year, and those who do renew their memberships are included in the new NCDA directory which is printed and distributed in January. Membership dues are $500 each year and are pro-rated.

Community Programs

Earning by Learning of Dallas
During the summer of 1996, an Earning by Learning program was launched in the Dallas area as a joint effort between the New Car Dealers Association of Metropolitan Dallas and the Ricky Rudine Memorial Fund of the Communities Foundation of Texas. This educational program, which boasts successes in cities across the United States, targets children who need some guidance in discovering all the advantages that books have to offer. Earning by Learning currently services 81 sites in 8 school districts as well as all Boys & Girls Clubs of Dallas, Dallas Challenge, Jeffries Street Learning Center, St. Philip's School and Community Center and Tejas Girl Scouts.

The objective of the program is to promote literacy among children at a very early age and to teach children how to manage money. The elementary school-age children in the program can select a book from a list of approximately 25,000 pre-approved titles. Upon completion of the books, the children are tested on their comprehension of the material. When they pass the test, they are credited with $2. Students can earn up to $40 per session. To date, more than 78,000 children have read 532,847 books with $1,065,694 in cash incentives distributed.

Christmas is for Kids
When the holiday season rolls around, it's visions of matchbox cars that are dancing in the heads of the members of the New Car Dealers Association of Metropolitan Dallas. Add a few Barbie dolls, stuffed animals, books and board games, and it's a recipe for a child's complete fantasy Christmas.

In 1993, the NCDA launched "Christmas is for Kids," a program designed to fulfill the holiday dreams of children who may otherwise not have a Christmas. To date, tens of thousands of gifts have been collected by participating dealer and associate members and distributed to select organizations that target children and teens. Each year, "Christmas is for Kids" continues to grow, thanks to the generosity of NCDA dealers and associate members and their families, friends, employees and customers.

Consumer Programs
The NCDA offers the following services to consumers.

Consumer Complaints
The NCDA accepts consumer complaints against dealer members in writing. Although the NCDA cannot provide consumers with legal advice, it can act as a liaison between dealers and consumers in an attempt to reach a satisfactory resolution of automotive-related problems. If you have a complaint against an NCDA dealer member, please fax it to (214) 637-2630.

Employment Program
The association maintains an employment bank of applicants for various dealership positions. Names of individuals, their phone numbers and positions they are seeking are listed in the monthly NCDA newsletter. Dealers also can call the NCDA office and request complete resumes of candidates. If you would like your resume to be included in the NCDA employment bank, please fax it to (214) 637-2630.
